What to do before you go
Tips and tricks for leaving with a rested mind
Your trip is approaching!!! The excitement is growing and you are certainly afraid of forgetting something. From preparing your suitcases to preparing for your absence, departures on a trip require very precise organization
What to do at home
The goal is to “turn off” your house… Unplug electrical appliances, turn off the water and defrost your refrigerator. Don’t forget to do a big clean and take out all the trash to avoid the appearance of unwanted little guests. Above all, don’t forget your plants : a good watering before leaving and, if you’re going away for a long time, find someone who can take care of their hydration during your absence
Security question
It is always better to leave a spare key with a good friend. He can come by from time to time, collect your mail and check that everything is in order. Lock the doors and close your windows.
And the shutters…?
There are many opinions on this point. Closed, the shutters help to keep the heat in winter and they protect your house or apartment. No, some people say: it can attract thieves. Solution: a great friend who comes by every evening to close the shutters… hard to find? So don’t forget to check your insurance policy : in the event of a prolonged absence, do your shutters have to be closed for you to be insured?
Your identity
It is advisable to take with you:
- A photocopy of your identity card or passport , sending it to yourself by email is also a good solution, printable as desired and safe from theft.
- Your bank’s telephone number and your CB’s international assistance telephone number
- A map of your blood type
- A medical form indicating your intolerances, allergies, wearing of contact lenses, etc.
- A list of emergency numbers to contact in case of a problem
Not to be forgotten
What we often forget:
- The charger for your… camera, laptop, computer, etc.
- Sunscreen
- Swimsuit , sunglasses and hat
- Driving license
- Your little personal pharmacy
- Mosquito repellent bomb
- A small vest and a waterproof garment, just in case… you never know
But above all…
Leave everything that is not necessary: stress, work, problems … how good it is to forget them.
So what’s the point of taking them with you?!?!
